Word Mats is an engaging activity for building CVC words, CCVC and CVCC words .Add them to your literacy centers to practice reading and spellingwords with a focus on phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, and vocabulary.
The word mats are perfect to use with small intervention groups to assist readers in developing their early literacy skills, while improving decoding abilities, and building their confidence in reading and spelling words.
Students will:
·Say the name of the picture.
·Segment the words into sounds by counting a finger for each sound they hear
·Place a manipulative on a frog for each sound they hear.
·Write the letter sounds on the lines
Place these in dry erase pockets for easy use or laminate to use over and over again!
